Customer Service representative, Rene' Sozio, offers these tips on packing your file boxes to save time and money.

Tip #1: Never Pack Files with Different Retention Schedules in the Same Box

Save money by never packing files with different retention schedules in the same box! Why waste time and money pulling a box just to destroy one or two files and then re-shelf it only to pull it again to destroy a few more files? By always packing files with the same retention schedule together, we can simply pull that box once and destroyed all of the contents at one time.

Tip #2: Always Leave Us an Inch

Always leave about two fingers or one inch of breathing room at the end of the file boxes you send to storage. This will make it far easier for our staff to pull the correct files when you call to retrieve them and will facilitate keying information if you've requested we index your files. Plus, boxes that are packed tightly will often wear out more quickly because the stress at the corners of the box will usually break the box open at some point.
